Scheduling delay-sensitive and best-effort traffics in wireless networks

چکیده
In this paper we propose a novel wireless scheduling algorithm for delay-sensitive (DS) and best-effort (BE) traffics. Unlike the majority of the previous wireless scheduling, where the wireless links are modeled as having only two states, our algorithm is applicable to links with multiple states. For DS flows, the algorithm is capable of providing statistical delay violation bounds. Such bounds are derived, analytically, using the idea of the statistical service envelope. For BE flows, we propose a new notion of fairness, called long-term link-quality-weighted outcome-fair, which we believe is more suited to wireless networks than pure outcome-fair or effortfair. The algorithm achieves a balance between bandwidth efficiency requirement and fairness requirement, and guarantees minimal goodput levels for BE flows.

The link scheduling problem in Wireless Mesh Networks is addressed, which consists in determining the activation time of the links so as to minimize the end-to-end delay of origin-destination pairs traffic. Sink-tree topology network and constant bit rate traffics are considered. We propose a linear integer model where the non linear best delay bound known from the literature is approximated vi...

We consider in this paper downlink scheduling for different traffic classes at the MAC layer of wireless systems based on orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA), such as the recent 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) long-term evolution (LTE)/LTE-A wireless standard. Our goal is to provide via the scheduling decisions quality of service (QoS), but also to guarantee fairness...

متن کاملA Reliable Routing Algorithm for Delay Sensitive Data in Body Area Networks
Wireless body Area networks (WBANs) include a number of sensor nodes placed inside or on the human body to improve patient health and quality of life. Ensuring the transfer and receipt of data in sensitive data is a very important issue. Routing algorithms should support a variety of service quality such as reliability and delay in sending and receiving data. Loss of information or excessive da...

During the last decade, multimedia services such as VoIP and Video have gained an increased success in the 802.11-based wireless network as this latter continuously adds capacity to support more and more bandwidth-hungry services. This has, in turn, opened new business opportunities for Network Operators (NOs) that are now offering new multimedia services over IEEE 802.11-based wireless network...
